Basic Training Complete!

Phil Jr is the soldier on the bottom left of the photo. This was taken at graduation during his pass & review. It was so good to see him and spend some time with him before he had to jump on a plane and head to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for his AIT training. He called us last night and said he was selected to participate in the Airborne program. After Oklahoma he will go to Fort Benning, Georgia for paratrooper training. Bring on the clairol, more gray hairs!

While on the road trip I did sew a lot of little hexagons by hand and embroided snowmen for Christmas gifts:0) The Smoky Mountains were absolutely gorgeous and the fall colors were breathtaking!

South Carolina bound!

I am so excited I can barely stand it! Tomorrow we leave for Minneapolis to spend the night at our daughter, Francine's, then Saturday morning me, my husband, and Francine leave for South Carolina to see our son, Philip Jr. He is at basic training for the Army and he graduates on Wednesday, November 9th. Tuesday, November 8th is family day, so we will get to spend 2 days with him before he leaves for Oklahoma for AIT where he learns to do his job. While in the car I will be starting my English paper piecing hexagons and doing some embroidery for Christmas presents. I am so looking forward to this time that our family will be together:0) I updated my profile pic and that is my son in the picture with me when he got sworn into the military. See you soon my boy!

Fall is here!

Here is my fall wallhanging! Isn't it the cutest thing! I made this at Fall Quilt Camp this year. I was so happy when I got it done and could enjoy it for the season. I had this charm pack for like over 2 years in my stash waiting for a project to say, "make me"! The pattern is Glorious Fall by Sandy Gervais. I backstitched the veins on the leaves with embroidery thread, appliqued around the flower petals to make them stand out, and used invisible thread to stitch around the pumpkin and the border.

It's been a long time.....

Excuses, excuses. I started a second job at Quilter's Corner, a quilt shop here in town in February and it has been so much FUN, hence why I haven't blogged since February. I am gonna get at it again! I have been sewing and this is some of what I have been doing! I made this little lap quilt for my boss' husband from the quilt shop, it is for when he receives his chemo treatments. Love you Gary:0)

Broken Dishes

Here is my finished broken dishes! I just think it is the cutest thing, probably because it is so little! I am trying to decide if I should give this to one of my friends or keep it for myself. Maybe hang in my sewing room?

This is a picture of Toby our baby boy shortly after we got him. He has grown quite a bit, just like everything, he was really cute when he was a baby.

Color Bridge

I am on a mission to finish old projects! I started this quilt about 6 years ago before I got my Janome Memory Craft 6600. I have all the blocks sewn into rows and now just have to sew the last two rows to the bottom of the quilt and add the borders of course. I love how the bear paws pop with the royal blue! Now I just have to decide where in my house it will go! It is made with batiks so I think I am going to hang it on a wall versus have it be a traditional quilt. Somewhere that my dogs won't rub against it anyway. Toby thinks he must rub against things to get his smell on them I guess?
